Hi First time on site...old question but how do I disconnect oil injection system from 1985 70hp Johnson. It is working as of now but would feel more comfortable by pre-mixing. I am mechanically inclined if some one can give me the information. Thanks and have a nice day Dale

Re: oil injection removal

If it were me, I'd leave it connected - maybe update the system and replace worn or outdated components and then maintain it properly. But, to me (as a long-time premixer), I'd much rather rely on a proven mechanical oil injection system than the hassle and potential errors of pre-mixing.

Take it out and pre mix I am sure your tank size is small, Just make sure you are the only one to gas it up so there will be no confussion about the amount of oil to use> a New VRO pump is about @300 dollars

Re: oil injection removal

Just go to the Engine FAQ forum and it will explain it. I did it this summer according to the information and it worked fine.
