Oil injection or Mix? Does it matter?

Buying a used boat w/ 1997 Evinrude 90 hp OB. Boat has oil injection tank, but told it doesn't work. Never had a boat with oil injection. Can I just mix oil and gas 50:1 and forget about the oil injection system?

Yes you can. Just disconnect the oil line from the VRO and all the warning horn wires.

Make sure you plug the oil inlet to the fuel pump.

sounds like that has already been done but you want to make sure the old oil line going into the pump is not sucking air.
