what would be the oill/fuel mixture on a 5hp johnston outboar that is early 70s or late 60s?:confused:

The following is generally true: 1958 and prior used 20:1, 1959 thru 1963 used 24:1, 1964 and newer use 50:1. High performance usage (racing) requires a ratio of 25:1. New engine break-in (not DI) requires 25:1.

Yea, I can't find anything under that model number. Can you post a picture of it? That will help us a lot.

Evinrude is showing a 5hp from 1965 - 68. They also show 1935 - 49, but it's not likely to be your motor there, even though I do see threads on antiques here.

Hmmmm. not finding anything under that model either. If you can post a pic of the motor, that would be a big help.

Your attachment comes up as invalid. However jasper just answered your model year question. As far as the oil mix, it's 50:1 (2.6 ounces per gallon, 11 ounces fer 4 gallon tank, 16 ounces per 6 gallon tank)
