I changed the oil in my 1992 Mercruiser 4.3L Gen2 today. I bought a Quicksilver filter that the package said would fit a V-6. The filter was too big in diameter. There weren't and boat dealer's open and Napa was closed also. The filter I bought came from Walmart and they didn't have the correct size, so I bought a Purolater filter from Advance auto parts that was the same size. Will the Purolater filter work on my Mercruiser engine without failing?

The part number is L24011

Re: Oil filter

Purolator is as good as most and better than some, in a word "yes".

Ayuh,... My guess is, you're buying filters for remote mounted filters, 'n Not the motor mounted filters, which are considerably smaller diameter...

You need a Napa, 1036...
