The kodiak oil lube hub kits I just bought do not need a smooth seal surface.
The seals go on very tight on the spindle. These seals have their own surface, the seal turns inside the seal. So these should work even if your spindle is not perfect. I have band new axles so I was not concerned.
Looks like a very good kit, I have been seeing many oil lube hubs at the boat ramp these days.
I have yet to hit the road with mine, just installed them, along with a pair of Kodiak disk brakes.
