1995 150 EXEOM. Last year I installed a remote fill for my engine it was an old stock OMC part purchased on eBay. Throughout the summer it seemed to be using less oil. I finally confirmed this when comparing fuel oil ratio used on several fishing trips. I do not think the remote kit is vented. Is this correct? I am thinking of going back to the original cap on my oil reservoir. I believe I have run my engine lean all summer long due to the fact that the remote fill kit does not seem to be vented. Or does the cap act as a vent when screwed on and starts to ratchet? Did the remote fill kit create a vacuum to the vro pump thus a lean oil situation? I am going back to the original vented cap. I would like these questions replied to as an informative post for others who may be using the remote fill setups and thus starving their engines of much needed lubrication. Appreciate your replies.

the system is vented for vacuum, to allow the oil to be used, but not for pressure. Double check but I'll bet it's a small pressure release that you are hearing when you loosen the cap.

The venting is thru an orange round rubber piece located a couple of inches down the oil fill pipe.
