I'm a bit of a mechanic and have never experienced this. I have a Bayliner Trophy boat with a Force 125 motor. I have tinkered with it, but never had serious problems. I have been out several times this year and always used reputable oil brands and careful about the gas I used. The other day I was at the lake and almost out of fuel. Lake had not pumps, so loaded it up and went to closest town which had two gas stations. Went insid and they had two bottels of phillips 66 2 stroke outboard motor oil, and 1 bottle of penzoil 2 stroke. I grabbed all 3 as needed to fill up tank. All were TCW-3 rated. These bottles plus the 6 ounces left of oil i had from last fill up was enough to fill the tank which was almost dry. Went back to lake and ran fine to unload with gas left in carbs. We sat a while waiting for the rest of my group to get there. It started and would die when we gave it more throttle and smoked terribly. Played with floats in carbs etc. Nothing worked. Trailered the boat and thought the only thing to do was to empty gas tank and start over. When pumping gas out, it was dark red from oil, then quickly cleared up after pumping about 1 gallon out. It is undisputable in my mind that whatever oil i used had settled at the bottom of the tank and my motor was trying to burn highly concentrated oil to gas mixture. I did put in oil first, but should have diffused when gas went in and the 15 mile trip back to the lake. Has anyone ever experienced this. Even if I had used wrong oil, it would seem that any oil would be disolved in the gas. Ran fine after replacing 20 gallons of gas.
