oil coming out

maybe somebody can help me out,i have oil coming out of the water intake screen on my omc outdriver, i hope that it is not a crack in the houseing.

the year is 1989 omc outdriver on a 1989 bayliner 30 foot with a 5.8 L thank you

its probably a badly corroded water pump backing plate. theres an o ring that seals the insert around the flange and also the shaft seal itself. if oil is leaking out when its running the water pump is packing that outdrive with water as well.

Remove the drive, drain the oil. Pressure check the drive.
Spraying soapy water in the front of the drive around the shift shaft and where the housings meet should show bubbles where the leak is.
