Re: oil coming form lower unit
That hole is a exhaust housing cavity drain.Probably just some two cycle oil residue. No big woop.Probably ought to replace the inner exhaust housing upper and lower boot seals next time you service the waterpump. Is this oil residue black in color or milky looking?<br />If ,however, you think this is lower unit gear lube you are seeing,it is likely due to a leaking propshaft seal , shift rod seal ,driveshaft seal,or drain/vent screw seals that has allowed water to intrude and overflow the gear lube into the cavity.Just to be on the side of caution, crack open the lower unit drain screw and see what comes out.If it looks to be of milky color or clear water ,you have a leak.If it looks amber or even darkish brown in color, likely not.If the lower unit lube has not been changed recently,it may be due.Good luck
