Re: oil change pump

What engine? If its a mercruiser then get the one that screws to the top of your dipstick. I went one better and got a fitting that replaces the drain plug on the sump. From there I got a 3ft piece of 1/4" hyd hose connected to another 90 degree fitting, ball valve and terminates in garden hose male thread. I use my pump there....that way I know I'll get everything out.

Get a 10 ft. piece of 3/8 ID clear plastic tubing.
Slide one end over the Dip Stick Tube.
Feed the other end out the bilge plug hole to a gallon jug on the ground.
Siphon the oil out.

If you are not getting payed by the hour to do the job, and you can afford to wait 20-30 minutes for it to drain......
Compare $5 for the tubing you may already have, to $50 for a pump that you are going to use once a year.

While you are waiting for the Engine to drain; Start draining the Lower Prop unit.
