I have a 1994, 200 Mariner. The motor ran fine until I hit a wave at high speed and shut down the motor. Since then the oil alarm has been going off at any speed and idle. There is oil in the main tank as well as the reservoir. What steps do I need to take to solve the problem? I do not want to disconnect the alarm and find out that the oil isnt mixing with the gas and loose the motor. Help.....

only pre-mixing is foolproof...a manual will give
the test proceedure for the sensor. bottom of page
or local library.
good luck,
M.Y.

If it is the fast beeping oil alarm then it could be the oil pump itself. This is the biggest Mercury/Mariner vice, the plastic gear crank driven oil pump which can strip out without any warning. My 150 just stripped out the gear with only 50 hrs on it, and the powerhead had to be replaced with me shutting off the motor immediately up on hearing the beep.

Better get it checked out.

TM
