off idle problem evinrude 150 crossflow 1981

engine seems to want to die at idle when going to forward or rev but run s great off idle up to wot
also went through a little mud when i aws going to load my boat buzzer whent off for one second let boat idle alittle while good stream from telltale never came backon again think it needs stats and pump kit/?
checked heads seemed hot to the touch cold keep hand on head for two or three seconds before it got to hot to keep therare there engine temp gauges avalible and dom you have to put one on each head

sounds like you clogged the cooling system, run a flexible wire, weedeater string up the pee hole, then try on muffs. it could just be clogged. if no water then, new impeller, t-stat. while engine is apart flush the cooling system with the water hose. get the mud out. also check the compression on each cylinder to make sure no other damage was done.
