A thread discussing the issue with high end Bats
Bought 3 Odyssey ODX AGM31 Bats.
After less than 2 years all 3 have issues and warranty is for 3 years for marine use.
Problem which caused issue
Odyssey said my 3 bank 20 amp total Promariner charger caused the issue because each Bat is a 1000 Ah Bat which requires at a minimum of 10 amps to recharge (10% of total Ah). So if Bats come in fully charged they still require at least 10 amps to start with which means it must be 10 amps per bank not enough to supply 10 amps if the other banks don't need all of it at the time.
So you have to have at a minimum a 3 Bank, 10 amp per bank charger and not just a 30 amp 3 bank charger for 100 Ah Bat. If you have a Bat larger or smaller it can be adjusted.
My issue is I really like Odyssey, but if they are that sensitive how in the heck can do they stay undamaged using the alternator installed on the motor?
Edit changed 1000 to 100 Ah, missed a digit
