Not just Detroit but pretty much anywhere in Michigan. Red lights, especially turn left red lights mean nothing. When your light turns green you had better look both ways before heading across the intersection.

I am not big for driving on any ice but I have driven on Houghton Lake here in Michigan. Its a good sized but shallow lake and when the weather is cold for a period of time many do drive out onto the lake for ice fishing and other activities.
