Re: Odd Crusader Problem

if you understand EFI and BASIC voltages, and know how to use a DVOM
EFI is WAY more simple. If you know what to look for and have the proper wiring schematic (read manual) you can find most problems pretty quickly
You bring up some good points Jimmy, and the main word is "IF"

IF, you don't understand EFI systems
IF, you don't understand basic Voltage, Amperage, Ohm concepts.
IF, you don't know HOW or WHY to use a DVOM
IF, you don't have a proper fuel pressure gauge and know how to use it.
IF, you don't have a service manual
IF, you can't read wiring diagrams and flow charts.
IF, you haven't checked the basics
IF, you don't know what the basics are.

Then you probably shouldn't be messing with it to begin with.

Re: Odd Crusader Problem

Jim,

Thanks for the offer to help! Unfortuneately, the boat is on Lake Lanier, GA. My buddy bought this boat (with the EFI) in Apalachicola last summer. My only hang up with it then (and now) is the EFI...I'd still rather have good old carbs for any off shore work. Easy starting, and better economy be damned. Give me something mechanical when I'm off shore.

At any rate, agree, if we can get the specs on the IAC and TPS voltages, it should be pretty easy to track it down. I sent my buddy a link to the thread and expect he'll run the IAS diagnostic procedure this weekend to see what's up.

Jim, I may take you up on your offer to help in a couple of weeks. My other boat (the beast) is being shipped down in the next two weeks. It's a fine running machine, just going to need some maintenance when I get it here. Thinking new manifolds, impellers, freshen the tune, and oil changes.

Thanks again folks.

Scott
