I always jokingly told the dealers to give me a branch if I buy a new truck so I could pre-scratch it ,lol. Now if I ever buy again its going to be off lease vehicle .Why should I take the huge depreciation hit of a new vehicle.

already looking for a mud-hole. rear limited slip (G80 diff) and 4x4 should get me thru some stuff it I need it. it is a truck, mud and trail damage is a rite of passage.

Just took mine to the wash after hosing it down a few days ago, playing in the mud, God does it pull in 4x4!

I have the 5.3. thought of going with the 6.2, however the 5.3 is plenty for my needs.

I stumbled into finding my truck - it was 10 years old and only 74k on it, still the 5.9 and $21k, non smoking and almost cherry head to toe.. That said, I had quit looking based on stories like yours but then my brother told me he needed my truck (03 5.9, srw 3500) so first day, found it.

And hey I'll be in Tampa area 16th thru 22nd(ish). I'd buy you a beer if you are avail and close to Riverveiw

Yea I understand you FLA guys need all that 4X4 stuff because you need to get out of the driveway through 4 foot snow drifts! That's a joke boys one of those laugh out load things.

As far as those good old glass lenses I have to tell you a pal bought a big block cherry redone beauty of a 65' Chevy Malibu a few years back. We took her for a run with the girls to dinner in a beachside town here on the lake and he allowed me to drive it back in the dark along the unlit lakeshore. Unless I had the high beams on, and even then those lights were terrible as I am now used to those ugly wrap around halogens. A huge not big difference. We have that 07' Nissan and I have never had a yellowing or fogging problem with them. 7 years now with my Silverado and not a leak or yellowing either. Buddy's 2016 Ram headlights are full of moisture already. In 1979 I had to buy a daily driver to go in and out of the steel plant, those cars took a beating like you never saw. I picked up a 73' Chevy Monte Carlo and it had the single round lights. I was disappointed because the double squares were just in fashion. I did not like that beater. Don't I wish I had that beater today, round lights or not.

Scott Danforth add 2 zeros to the cost of the PT's clutch and tranny and I haven't come close to just the CVT tranny for that Altima I parked last week for the last time. I can't find one on this planet even of I wanted to sink the 5 or 6 grand for a rebuilt into a car with 400,000 K's on it. I have no problem investing money into my 24 year old StarCraft but not a 10 year old car. The crap I have seen for a 3 year old car with 100,000 kms on it is simply ridiculous. And with a 15 to 17 grand tag. I have to look at the badge to see what make they are, all clones each and every one. I'm going to look at TJ Jeeps tomorrow, timeless styling, 4x4 and a rag top! I hope they ride smoother than my 85'.

need 4x4 at the ramps down here because of the combination of algae and slime on the ramps and the a$$holes power-load and ruin the ramps.

as far as the old round sealed beams, they make them hyper-bright if you want with either hallogen or LED. so your buddy can update his '65 Malibu to modern lighting that still looks good.

as for your altima trans have you checked www.car-part.com ? its where I look for parts. I picked up a complete driveline for a hot-rod a few years back for $500. engine, trans, wiring, A/C, etc. all from a wreck with only 9926 miles. the car was t-boned, flipped and the roof cut off with the jaws of life

Congrats to you as well Heinz Easy Boater. Welcome to the GM 4x4 club. I think they still say that the F-150 is the most sold pick up, proof there's a sucker born every day. Buddy bought a Ford F-150 last year and I found a pic, maybe here that showed how a F-150 owner tows the boat. It was being pulled by a Donkey and cart. I wish I could post a pic here, believe me I've tried.

Thanks for the lead Scott. I asked you for it on my post about car shopping before I read this. For some reason I'm not getting notifications any longer on the forums. I will be going to that site immediately.

I know about all the slippage on the ramps in Florida. We had a place in Port Charlotte for years and would go out fishing on the Peace River and the harbour, sorry harbor.

As for the headlights I didn't know about the upgrade, Dom probably does, he is one of those original parts guy. I think he said it was the first time the car was out after dark since he bought it in Hershey PA.

I don't know if the rear trans axle casing are the same on my 11' Silverado as they are on the GMC. I was warned by the dealership mechanic as well as the brochure for the truck to take care not to power wash the casing or submerge it for long, the seal had a tendency to fail. I'm sure GM has addressed that issue by now, just a heads up. I had a GMC Sierra 4x4 I traded in for the Chevy, those GMC are built more robustly than the Chevy's. GM gave me $3500.00 as a trade for that 89' short box step side that had 400,000 K's on her as a Customer Loyalty Program. I know they just had that in the base anyway.

Scott Danforth you are certainly a cornucopia of great information young man. You must be a "G" man. I found not only 1 but 3 tranny's for the Nissan in my hometown of Hamilton ON. 1 for $855.00 CDN and 2 for $990.00. An hour from here!! I've dealt with Dominion Auto wreckers, now a Keystone for 40 years. I need to fire my guys, they couldn't find one but a gentleman from the west coast of Florida did. They don't want my bizz I guess.

If I was down your way I would join you guys for a beer and buy too. If it was last month I could have as I was in Sarasota for a tad. When I do get back down I will try and meet you guys for a brown pop. The plan is this fall for a few months in Pt. Charlotte.

Depending on where in Sarasota, I am either 20 minutes or an hour and 20 minutes.

cars are a hobby and dropping drivelines from something big and shoehorning them into something tiny is a passion. if your looking for a wreck to build, I use ridesafely.com for bidding on auction vehicles.

BTW, your Altima would really move along with a RWD / LS conversion

I dove down for the rocket. A friend from my forum lives in FLL and I'm on his 64 footer working for a few days then off to another forum friends place about 30 minutes inland. Then to tampa for another forum friend for a few days. I wander south each year. Just need to be home by 23rd to cook for a birthday party

My office view until lunchtime tomorrow:

now it becomes clearer. if you were simply heading here, direct flights from BNA to TPA on Frontier are cheap and plentiful

if you find yourself wondering the Ft liquordale marine center wave to the Nautical Structures service guys...
