Has anyone been able to use a satisfactory sealant or replacement for an O ring unavailable from the manufacturer.. It is an O ring for a vapor separator that is under some pressure and in constant contact with gas. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

O-rings are commodities. Standardized in size and material.

Measure the ID and cross section of exiting o-ring and buy or order one made of nitrile or viton from a supply house.

Also check your local Ace Hardware, ours has a whole pile of o-rings in the nut and bolt section. As mentioned above measure it with some calipers, and/or just bring it in and hold it up next to what they have.

Update: Permatex technical recommended to use the old O ring with one of their products on top. I opened the vapor separator and found the side of the needle corroded and that made the float stick. New needle, cleaned up things, and reinstalled. Engine ran fine. After further thought, decided to buy the updated Vapor Separator Kit. Installed and engine ran fine.
Thanks to all for their help and recommendations.
