number under cowl (hood)?

There are serial #'s on the underside of my 53 evinrude motor. One on each side. 203266M and on the other side 203264C. Anyone know what these #'s are? It is a 15 hp.

Those are the part numbers, or sometimes the casting numbers. OMC was good about putting numbers on most of their parts.

Yep, they're casting numbers. Sometimes they correspond to the actual part numbers, often they don't. Good way to differentiate between parts that look the same, but may have some minor difference or improvement.
