Hello, I'm new to the boating world so to assume I know nothing is pretty safe. I have a '93 Evinrude 30 horse with electric start (E30ELETA). I bought a set of OMC controls separately and after plugging in the controls and hooking up the battery I get nothing when I turn the key. By nothing I mean no clicking, no humming, absolutely nothing as if I have a dead battery (I don't). The pin that shuts the motor off if I go overboard is depressed and clipped on the controls and I tested continuity through the battery cables I got with the controls and they're good. I can turn the motor over by shorting the starter but get no action with the key. So my question is this, is the problem more likely to be in the controls or in the motor itself and what's my next logical step to trouble shoot.
