nothing but issues

well i bought my boat right after memorial day and it is in the shop for the 3rd time. first time the starboard speaker went up in smoke and damn near caught on fire which took bass pro 2 weeks to fix. then the radio fried on the next trip out. put it in for the 2nd time and it took them a week before they looked at it then 3 weeks later the radio came in. now i go out and everything electrical is fine but the floor on port side that connects the front and mid-section together i guess the mount broke at that point and no acts like a floating floor. if you put some weight on it the floor actually drops about an inch. as you go down the river it will start creaking. i was figured i would just turn the radio up louder to drown it out and make due with it till the summer. well i get back to the launch and load the boat up. i open the hatch to the motor to get my straps out to tie down the boat. i notice my shock is dangling. it broke the fiberglass mount at the bottom of the shock and just hangs from the hatch. i brought it back to bass pro first thing yesterday morning and dropped it off. the service manager wasn't there to accept it but another employee did and said they would call me and let me know about it. they have all been really nice about it but it just sucks that i bought the boat to enjoy the summer and instead of having a blast all summer i've been sitting at home wondering when i get to go out again. and when i get to go out i have to wonder if the boat is going to make the trip. i've talked to numerous tahoe owners while out on the river and all love their boats. why did i get the lemon? thanks to all who have listen to me rant i really needed to get it out and i hope they get my boat in and out in record time.

Dude...Sorry to hear about your problems your experiencing with your boat. I'm glad to hear that they corrected your electrical short, though. Bummer they kept it for so long though. Just curious if the boat you bought is used or new. If its used, then the previous owner probably abused it and, unfortunately, you've inherited the problems. At least their is a warranty which should cover the "floating floor", as well. If there's one thing I've learned on this forum, don't buy a boat from a Bass Pro Shop. The after sale service sucks.

Two weeks to repair a busted speaker??? That would have been my last visit to the BPS service department. Any Tahoe dealer in your area can perform the warranty work.

I agree with BA97, I highly recommend you taking your NEW boat to another Tracker Marine dealer in your area.

JimmN,

You may want to try the guys at Boat City in Hammond. I purchased my 196WTOB 2 weeks prior to Memorial Day 2007. I had several problems with my boat. I was happy with the way Boat City handled all but one of the issues. This one issue was corrected. I even had a couple of warranty problems that were handled while I waited. You might also want to contact the Tracker Warranty department yourself. I am not sure it will help but it might. The numbers is 417-873-4555.

Might be worth the drive. Give them a call and see if they'll take care of your issues while you wait.

well it has been in the shop for a week and half and no one has called me yet to atleast say hey we looked at your boat and this is what we have to do to fix it and you should have it back by such and such date. i'm going to call friday if i haven't heard from them. that will be 2 full business day weeks of it being there with no response.

quick question....do y'all think it would be fair to call tahoe and request some money back on the boat? i put $4000 down on it and made 3 payments on it and everytime i have sent in a payment the boat has been in bass pro's possession? i have only got to take the boat out maybe 5 times since buying it.

I don't think you'll get a response from the manufacture. They aren't legally responsible for for loss of use nor is the dealer.

Here's what I did on a used car I bought years ago which you may try. The car dealer I bought my used car from had bald tires. I bought the car at night and really didn't notice it until I got home. Car dealers in California are not supposed to sell vehicles with hazardous conditions such as bald tires. When I called the dealer to let them know this, they refused to replace the tires. So I called my friend who is an attorney and he spoke to the manager followed by a letter. The letter was courtesy copied to the manufacture, as well. As soon as they got the letter, they called me to make an appointment to replace all four tires. Dealers don't want to spend money unnecessarily on lawyers and would rather satisfy the complaint as soon as they can.

If the delays are causing you grief, I would highly recommend that you seek the advice of legal counsel. Where I'm from, there's a bunch of free legal services which will perform this service for you, if you don't have a friend that's a lawyer.

This also sends a message to the dealer and manufacture that you are represented by a lawyer and will do everything to your complete satisfaction because they don't want to see you back again and risk spending money on their legal department.

Good luck!

Re: nothing but issues

JimmyN,

I did just what you mentioned. I asked for a $5,000 refund from Tahoe and was told no way. Tahoe told me they would consider some compensation after looking at my paperwork and complaints. That was back January. I haven't heard anything from them. Tahoe has the poorest customer service I have ever seen. Good luck with your request. Keep good records of all of your conversations with the dealers and the manufacturer.

Did you bring the boat to Boat City or is it back at BPS?

I wish I could give you "It'll be fine" speech but if you took your boat back to BPS then be prepared for a loooonnnnggggg wait. If I would have known better I would have taken mine to another dealer. At the tahoe web site see if there is another dealer around. They can service your boat under the warranty.
By the way your boat isn't yellow is it? I told a guy about my problem and because it is yellow he said "well you did buy the lemon color". All I could do was laugh at the obvious.

Anyway good luck in getting your repairs done promptly.
