Re: not getting gas

How old are fuel lines? Old fuel lines can deteriorate and send crap into the carb and clog jets/passages. Carb prob needs rebuild. Try to pump primer bulb and see if the motor will continue to run. If so, could be a bad fuel pump. Is gas tank vented properly.
Could be a myriad of things.

Wouldn't hurt to include some of the history of the motor.

Re: not getting gas

bought it about 2 months ago, but ive been working on my boat so im just getting around to getting it in the water, when i first got it, it ran great, started on first try. i know the guys i bought it from and it was reworked last year at a marine shop, hoses are basically brand new, the fuel pump the same way

Like Bonair said. I never trust what someone else says was done to the motor. Try pumping the primer bulb after you get the motor running. If it keeps running, but dies when you stop pumping, then it is the fuel pump not working. If it won't keep running when you pump the bulb, then the carb is gummed up/clogged, and needs rebuilding.
