Not getting fuel

I am having the same issues regarding no gas getting to engine such as the following situation,

Boat started, we motored over to a fishing spot. When trying to start to return, cranked nicely until battery drained. Afterwards went though many issues including all mentioned in these postings. Wondering if solutions were found? I am at point of pulling the carborator apart and checking for some gummed up part?

Entirely possible needs a carb rebuild. When this happens do you have spark? If u dump a little gas down carb and you have spark it should at least cough if not run for a bit. Need to do some looking if you are missing gas or spark when it happens. Spark gap tester is cheap and effective on spark side, would look down throttle bore and pump throttle to see if accelerator pump is squirting gas in?

Thanks for the reply!! I am currently installing the 3rd starter since purchasing the boat a couple years ago and wore this one out on the many tries to fix after this fuel stoppage issue occurred. I will get a spark tester this week and try the plugs out to make sure they work. I can't see or smell any semblence of gas entering the carb, however, when looking down the bore. I will also check a for second filter behind the "big" connection from the gas line to the carb as noted in the discussion. I don't have a good understanding of carburators, however. Is it just the force from the fuel pump that makes the spray? Thanks again for your reply!!!

You will only see it coming from accelerator pump nozzle when throttle is pumped. Fuel pump fills fuel bowl that is a reservoir of fuel to be sucked into the air going into engine while running Thru the jets and the Venturis. There is an accelerator pump that is a small pump inside carb that squirts a little gas in when throttle is stabbed to overcome the lag before the vacuum signal in the Venturi catches up …this thread has some drawings and delco carb book. The mercarb that is likely on your engine is a descendant of the Rochester 2 jet used by GM years ago

at this point just work on figuring out if you are missing spark or fuel. As mentioned dribble a little fuel down carb bores see if it starts , if it does u are missing fuel
