Not getting fuel - 93 force 120

Hey guys,
I was on here last summer, we bought a 91 120 L drive (yes, we were stupid and didn't know any better) that blew a month after we got the boat. We bought a '93 120 outboard power head that was almost a perfect match to the 91 that was on there, other than the driveline that the splines didn't match up. We found a machinist to fix that problem, thankfully. So now we have the motor back in the boat, everything hooked back up (at least to the best of my husband's NON-mechanic memory - just a few leftover parts!), and it won't start. It doesn't seem to be getting fuel. It turns over, and he said he checked and it's getting spark, but we're at a bit of a loss at this point as to what it could be... any ideas? Does anyone have a diagram that I could print out that shows the motor and what it should look like (what connects to where)?
A friend of ours thought it might be the fuel pump gone bad (though it worked fine last fall), but another person told us it doesn't have a fuel pump. So we're wondering exactly how the fuel gets to the motor if not by a pump. There isn't a ball on the fuel line like there is on an outboard motor, and I obviously don't have a clue!!!! Hey, my job is to clean the thing, not make it run! :)

Anyway if anyone has any clues, or pictures, or anything that might help us, I'd (we'd) sure appreciate it!!!! We're going on vacation in a couple weeks, and since we camp out on an island, it might make it a little tricky getting over there without a boat!

There should be a priming bulb and there is a fuel pump. First or second diagram depends on the model number from 1993

Note this image part number 15. This is for a portable tank however an outboard will never start unless it is primed. the fuel line going from the motor to the gas tank must have part number 15. It should be pumped till it is hard and then try and start. The fuel pump normally will not matter during idle. So even if it is defective or shot you should still be able to get an idle.

In a way this thread is kind of funny. I guess it is true that if a guy is lost he will not stop at the gas station and get directions. :D

L - driver here too. Blasted things.

There is no priming bulb. I've often wondered if adding one would help my start after 3 weeks of sitting. I doubt that it would hurt anything, would it euro?

Secondly, it more than likely sounds like your fuel pump. It's just a rubber diaphram (looks kinda like a gasket). It looks like the second picture that euro posted is the winner. (at least it's that one for my l-drive junk)

Re: Not getting fuel - 93 force 120

Sorry. My post is pretty generic. I do not have a force. The post did mention however that the power head was replaced with a standard force 120 power head. Parts listings show that model has a primer. Unfortunately about 15 different models were produced that year so some have one type of fuel pump and the other have the other type of fuel pump. Seems weird that an outboard would not have a prime bulb unless it had an electric fuel pump.

Well, you said it when you said "weird". This is an L-drive which is a "weird" unit. Outboard with an in-board like drive. I'm thinking if I put a bulb on it though, it can't hurt anything. It's also gonna act like a check valve, and not allow fuel to go back into the tank, right? Not to mention, I can pump up the line before I start it, yes, no?

Is there some magical website you guys go to, to get these diagrams? Thanks for all your help, I'll pass this on to my husband and HOPEFULLY we'll have a running boat very soon! :)
