I know a lot of you are still experiencing freezing temperatures and snowy conditions and I do wish you an early spring. However, I had to cut the freaking lawn today because it was getting so high already. I mean, couldn't it wait a little longer before growing so I could get my boating projects finish before starting spring time chores? :faint2:

I like the 70's and low 80's for working on my boat, but everything went from freezing to blooming and growing like a rocket already... Thought I was going to have a few nice weeks without yard work so soon...:blue:

Overlapping chores stinks.

Fill the yard with spruce trees, shrubs, and vines, never mow again. :)

I'd be thrilled if we were only experiencing "freezing temps".

We're still getting snow, then 4 nights of zero temps. 20" of ice on the lake yet.
Probably won't need to get out the mower till May 20th.

And my spring fishing trip to Canada is in jeopardy, as they still had 54" of ice on Sunday.

WOW roscoe, I know what you are talking about. I'm originally from north east PA and move here to GA some decades ago. I like to see the first snow, but I do remember that stuff lasting forever and turning dark gray as well. And everybody's cars were all the same color 'till spring... And let's not even talk about salt corrosion either... SMH!

No need to mow. Get a goat and stake him in the yard. Every few days, move the stake. No more mowing.:)

Grass is a terribly poor plant and boring, too. A few years back, I ripped up my yard and planted clovers, blazing stars, goldenrods, wild geraniums and some more. Wife loves it, wildlife appears in it (bees and butterflies, among others), and I don't have to mow the lawn. Win-win-win.

I like to mow. What other chore has you sitting on your butt, listening to music with head phones while consuming your favorite cold beverage?

Now compounding and waxing the boat is a suck job....lol

Yeah, I've already mowed the yard a few times and there is pollen and flowers everywhere. It's a good problem to have, especially in Feb/March. I even got a start on a veggie garden this year. Fingers crossed......

Looks like you could use a couple loads of gravel, but that would be pricey in your area

Re: Not already....?

You know I'm retired now for over three now after a 38 year career with the DOD. And I find it totally unbelievable that when I was working I managed to work a little over 8 hours a day (mostly 9 hours) and was able to do all the house hold chores including the yard work without a miss. But since retiring, it seems the house and yard work has increased two fold. I still manage to get everything done but it seems I still have the same amount of time left over for the fun work... How can that be? Is there some type of Murphy's law in effect here?

Same here 38 years with the DOD, and I don't know how I managed to get everything done when working. But I do have a lot more projects going on now. Picked up a Dozer, dump truck, backhoe and now outdrive work. Probably like you, I like being busy

Oh yes I enjoy working on many different projects...even yard work. I probably have way too many hobbies. But I love wood working, Electronics, R/C, reloading, fishing, hunting, shooting, welding, metal fab, auto work, engine and trans rebuild, refurbishing most anything...just because! I was just hoping that the seasonal yard mowing would have given me another month so I could finish the actual boat hull project before starting the weekly (some times twice a week) mowing efforts. I have a little over an acre of land and I keep it pristine if I can...another character flaw I have.

Takes some time to keep it this way...but I like it!

Oh and I do love that fact that you too have the American flag flying in your yard. I've had an America flag flying since 9/11 24/7/365! I even installed a flood light for the night time viewing...and always will until... :joyous:
