Re: Not a good start

Well, took her out today and she ran great all the way to a little cove where we anchored up and spent a few hours fishing and swimming. Started her up again to go to another spot, ran good for about 15 min, I made a sharp turn and all of a sudden she lost power. I had the throttle opened up to about 3000 rpms and she would't go more than a few miles an hour. Pulled in to another cove and anchored up, I checked the fuel filter in the carb and it was as clean as a whistle. I am truly stumped....

On a side note, I was reading in another thread about the fuel filter in the carb. The filter is small cylinder shaped, when it goes in does the spring go inside the open end of the filter?

Check your coil. Sometimes they work fine when they are cold, but, when they heat up, they start to fail and can give you a symptom very similar to what you're describing.

With three fuel filter (actually four because there is probably a screen on the lower end on the fuel pick-up tube inside the tank) in line between the tank and the carb, the carb filter would be the last suspect for restriction. Remove the water separator filter and pour the contents into a pan and see what you find. In all of your previous post you never did say you removed all the old fuel from the tank. I'm sure if it's clogging filters it need a serious cleaning.

See if this link works..

The spring should hold the filter tight up to the filter nut (i.e., between the carb and the filter. Put spring in, then filter, then gasket/nut. The open end of the filter, actually a fine mesh strainer, is the inlet end, of course)
