non-carpet floor coatings and how they feel to your feet

I'm about to coat the newly installed deck in our family ski boat. I have been planning to use Durabak, as FriscoBoater did on one of his well documented restore jobs. My only hesitation is my concern about how it will feel to our feet. Is it too ruff, or does it get too hot? I don't want to put carpet back in it so that it will be easier to keep dry. I have to store the boat outside and basically have to cover it up real tight directly after being on the water all day, so carpet never really has a chance to dry. Are there any other folks out there that have coated a deck like this that can give me some feed back? I hoping to cash in on a little hind sight here. Thanks!

I used 3 coats of textured on my Bayliner deck... It wasn't that bad or rough on the feet... I also had snap-in carpet... If I did it again I'd put one coat of textured followed by one or two non-textured. I used white and it was never hot on my feet...

yeah, I was planning to put a coat of smooth over it to take some of the bite away, plus give it more of a gloss look. I'm going with a light grey color. Do you happen to have any photos of yours?

I used a spray-in bedliner called liner x-treme, and used a rubber "dust". It is very nice on the feet.

short answer.........guys dont mind the feel on thier feet... girls dont like it

nothing better than a good rug under your feet.

the real deal is snap in carpet.......just take it out when killing fish.

Nice restoration bear_69cuda. Yeah, the ladies like the comforts so we'll see how it goes the first year. I may pop for snap in rugs in front of the seats next year. I was concerned that it might get hot. That is why I'm going with a light color. We keep our bimini up most of the time, but it doesn't cover the open bow area obviously. It doesn't sound like that should be a problem. Thanks.

I used Grizzly Grip (www.grizzlygrip.com) on the floor of my 14 foot Starcraft and it feels quite good on your feet. I have Dolphin grey and the coarse option and the surface is still not hard on your feet. The fine option would be ever smoother. Good luck. 1988 Starcraft

I pulled the trigger on a gallon of Durabak non slip and a quart of smooth with UV protection. I'm kinda nervous about it. I've read a lot both pros and cons. The tech support guys at Durabak are kinda scaring me about it not sticking to new resin. However FriscoBoat did his Glastron restore using it and it looks great. He tells me it held up well. I think its all about surface prep. I plan to go by the letter to their recomendations. I sure hope it turns out nice and lasts a long time.
