Going nuts!

1960 Eveinrude 10 hp. New impeller correctly installed. New grommets. Pump housing and plate unmarked. Air through all passages. Even pulled thermostat. Been through it 3 times. No water. ???????????

If you are in a tub or bucket have you got the water deep enough; level should be just below the exhaust relief holes.

How deep is the lower unit in the water. The water line needs to be a couple inches below the exhaust relief port. The pump is not self priming, so needs to be completely submerged. Try raising the water line.

Other issues could be blocked intake, vent hole on impeller housing plugged, missing key, air intrusion into pump, water line pinching grommet.

+1. Can't run these old girls on muffs of any sort. Gotta run it in a test tank with water filled to about 1-2" below the main exhaust port. If that doesn't do it. Then the copper water uptake tube is probably not aligned correctly in either the top of the impeller housing, or underside of the power head. Thanks Guys; I'll try it a little deeper in the tub. Assumed self priming. Its been a while since working on one this old
