I have a 2000 VP 5.0 Gi (4012030014) with SX drive (4202017504) with ~200 hours. I started it up today after winterization on muffs and no water came out the exhaust relief ports. I probably ran 60 - 90 seconds. Is it possible block wasn't filled yet? Any other basic things I can look for?

Thanks

No, the block would fill up within 15 to 20 seconds max. When was the last time you replaced the raw water pump impeller? After 60 to 90 seconds, even if it was good before, without water it's bad now.

If you have a flush hose on the engine, was the cap on and tight and sealed? If it leaks air, no water to the pump.

I had the impeller replaced when I had it winterized in 2011. I'm pretty sure there was no air leakage on flush hose.

Pull the impeller and look at it now doesn't matter what it was in 2011.

There's a large bracket, do I need to remove that? Does this have something to do with the belt tension?

Don't know how you guys expect to work on your boats if you don't know anything about them and then don't even own a manual.

disconnect the intake hose to the raw water pump and hook the garden hose to it and then run the motor, volvo's dont like to run on muffs they just dont suck the water up to the pump, i think they make the correct muffs for the volvo, if your using generec muffs dont use them and hook to the pump like i first stated

#1 Always follow Don's Advice
#2 My Volvo does better when the muffs are put on from front to back (bow to stern).

Mine does fine on muffs.

I had the same problem last year during winterization. It was the impeller.

It's an easy change. Keep a spare on hand.
