Thanks for all the help. What I didn't realize is that both sides of the truck were flashing when I hit the turn signal with brakes off. After that I soon found that the left and right wires were shorted together inside the trailer wiring. After separating them and wrapping in electrical tape I was back in business. This boat sat in the vegas sun for many years and some of the exposed wiring has very brittle coverings.

That certainly explains it!

But do yourself a favor and replace that cracked old wiring. It's only a few bucks for a new set.

Glad you got it sorted. Replace the cracked wiring though as already mentioned.
