I won a storage unit auction with a 18' sailboat in it. It didn't come with a title. There is a license plate on the trailer from 2013. I have to use a court order to be able to get it registered and a new title. I was wondering if people buy boats with no title before I went thru the court hassle? I'm from Cleveland Ohio if that helps. TIA

I understand that the level of hassle may depend on what state you’re in….and how much time and hassle you’re willing to spend on this issue….

I live in ohio. I got the previous owners info but he hasn't returned my calls or emails. I got the forms to file a court order. I was just trying to find out if i sell it for a low price if anyone would even be interested in it just to get rid of it

If you like hassle, jump thru hoops. If you want to live in comfort put it on your front lawn with a sign that says: "FREE".

Storage wars are a gamble. My neighbor does that and his garbage pile is HUGE every week.

Just be sure that if you do sell it, you put the profits on your income tax.

The storage place should be able to file for abandoned property or help you do it to get title or registration in their/your name. If memory serves they did it already to allow them to auction unit off.

Ohio is known to be difficult to deal w when the paper trail is defunct.
Need to address all 3 if it has a small outboard on it:
Boat
Motor
Trailer

And w out paperwork expect it to be challenging at best

Trailer is easy, just get it weighed. The no title on boat is not as easy in Ohio. If you can reach the previous owner it is easier.
