Here in Michigan on Lake St. Clair, we fish early because by noon the big boats are all getting ready to head out for a day of fun, and usually it's the bigger boats that just flat wont turn the wheel when approaching a smaller boat anchored. Seen them swamp small boats a couple times, and it sad that they think because they are bigger they own the water way. Size matters but in this case I do try to just get off the water before noon to avoid these folks who have more $$ than brains, and no value for human life either. It's a serious problem on this lake, and I've dialed the sheriff a few times to share the MC #'s on the boats doing this.

1- 20+ lber is all. Missed several take-downs. Seemed like every place we anchor'd up, we were in the trash-line. We had a recent storm out West and it always sends all kinds of stuff floating down river and then of course the incoming tide brings it right back up river!!

Yeah the funny thing is you know as well or better than I that is a baby for out there. :) Man the only thing I hate about that part of the James is all the river debris after storms! I have hit more than 1 log out there.....

Whenever I'd go out with my brother, I'd always park the truck while he took the boat off the trailer. I just recently got the boat last July, so I wasn't completely used to it. It's quite a bit different from the 35HP runabout I used to own. So I'm walking down to the launch which is encased in a bunch of trees. All I hear is someone just WOT with a V8 I/O. I was like who's the idiot who's just romping in the no-wake zone? As I get closer, I see the offender, it's my boat. It's a little large for the lake we typically frequent so when he started swinging it around like we used to on the runabout it causes a whole mess of waves. Needless to say, even though I think my boat is bad-a** and so does my brother, we had a good discussion about boat etiquette and karma. You never want to **** off your fellow boaters because often times you might need their assistance.

There is worse, I was in a very narrow channel that was only about 3ft deep and taking it easy so as not to bottom out in my boat which is 25'. A 20' boat came within 8' of me on full plane and hit me with a wave that left me with my i/o stuck in bottom, after calming the wife and kids down I had to jump in and work it out so I could get back under power again. Finally got to marina and there he is, tied up at dock and yes, he's gettin it I thought to myself.

That was when I found out that police officers own boats too, this idiot was one of em!

Too bad you weren't comfortable ripping him a new one. Anybody who does dumb stuff can be spoken to. Too late now though.

I would have still ripped away, and then ripped him again. LEO's should be even more aware of the dangers of this kind of stuff. Just wondering how you discovered he was a LEO?
