no speed

I have a playbuoy 20FT pontoon with Evinrude 48 spl,,,just bought it and its sooooo sloooow,,,,carbs are opening all the way but can't go over 8 MPH,,seems to run fine,,thr tilt/trim doesn't work but would that make the boat that slow ????

Look on amazon for a small engine tachometer, you need to know what your RPM is when running wide open.

8mph sounds about right for a 20ft pontoon w a 'Rude 48spl

eh...I had a 60hp merc. 4 stroke on my 24' pontoon and it'd get me to 20+ on a cool, good day.
