HI Im new here and would like to say Hey!

I have a 89 bayliner with a 125 force engine. There is no spark on the second cylinder down from the top...cylinder #2 or 3?? I have spark at the three other cylinders. I swaped the plugs and still had no spark from second cyl down.

I was thinking about swaping coils with another cylinder, any other ideas that could help find the problem.
What are the specs for the coil like primary/secondary restiance?

Re: No spark on one cylinder

Welcome to iboats, Sammy.

Nope.. your planned next step (swappin coils to see if symptom moves with the coil) is the way to go from there.

Re: No spark on one cylinder

I switched the wire from #2 to #1 Cylinder 2 then had spark and 1 did not. Then i put the wires back So I know the coil is good.
Next I was thinking about switching the 1 and 2 wires from the stator/flywheel area with the 3 and 4 wires...so ign box 1/2 is on the 3/4 signal and 3/4 bog gets the 1/2 signal.

If Cyl #2 still has no spark I know it is the ignition box
If Cyl #2 has spark AND #4 has spark i would think the problem is in the stator/trigger uint??

Can I switch the circuits like that?

Re: No spark on one cylinder

I recently had the same issue, no spark on cylinder#5 also a 1989 force but 150hp. I traced it back first coil, then cdi module, then stator. It turned out to be the stator. One of the coils was burnt where the wire for my #5 cylinder was attached. (or I guess should have been attached).

I should have just visually looked under the flyweel first. It was really noticable. (Maybe yours was the same).

Changing the stator was simple. Hardest part was getting the flyweel off. But with a puller and a few hard wacks with a 3 lb hammer it came off like butter.
