Before you get all wrapped up in electronics, do you have the kill switch activated???? Power pack test procedures are provided in the service manual. Don't have one? Check your local library.
you need to get a DVA adapter and a multi meter so you can test your stator/power pack/rectifier/regulator. you can go to CDI electronics site for free troubleshooting guide in the support section. it will tell you exactly what to test and how. report back if you have any questions. USA tools has a DVA adapter for $25..google it. but first check the simple things like silver mentioned.
