Got a 115HP Merc straight 6 on a Stracraft <br />Islander 191V. Boat has a 48 gallon onboard tank. Boat sat for 6 years before I bought it. Changed all fuel lines and primer bulb, motor ran sometimes good, sometimes not. Now it has no power. Good compression, all plugs look fine, also when I try to gas it to pull up a skier it bogs out. I changed the fuel filter, the plugs, checked out the fuel pump, and am getting discouraged. Some days it runs great, some days it runs poor. I had the same model boat a few years back with a Johnson 90 V4 that had way more power than this one. Any ideas? I'm fixing to sell my wife's car to buy a new motor...

Re: no power

My guess would be that the carbs are gummed up and need to be thoroughly cleaned and a carb kit installed.

I'm with Jack. After you verify that all plugs are indeed firing and I bet that they are you need to pull the carbs and do a complete and thorough carb rebuild. After 6 years sitting I would be surprised if it ran right without a carb rebuild.

fuel tank is in the floor? if so did you get the old gas out? maybe water in the tank? things to think about during that carb cleaning!
