VRO No Oil Alarm Occurrences after VRO preventive maintenance rebuild with OMC/BRP Air Motor and Gas Diaphragm rebuild kits.
Should I replace the pump with a new VRO pump?
- No previous problems with VRO (4 wire) since it was installed in 2008.
- The No Oil Alarm occurred randomly four times over 60 gallons of fuel burn.
- Occurs shortly after (max of 2 minutes after) running at WOT for a period of time (WOT time varied from 2 to 6 minutes)
- I can’t replicate the problem when I try
- When it occured, I imediately throttle down and it stops. I may hear no more than 4 quick beeps at one second intervals when it occurs.
- Checking the oil line primer bulb, I always find it hard
- I rebuilt the VRO with OMC rebuild kits in August as a preventive maintenance with powerhead rebuild
- Did not replace air vacuum O-ring between VRO housing halves, because one didn't come with the kits. (could that be the problem?)
- No other changes other than I rebuilt the engine and have also been running premix in tank. I am still running 100:1 premix in gas tank.
- Prior to using rebuilt engine and VRO, I did drain the oil tank (turned it upside down) to check for water and refilled with new XD50 for break in (did I introduce a few air bubbles?). New oil tank and hose installed in 2003.
- Using proper OMC ratchet snap clamps on all oil and gas hoses.
- I have always used Champion UL77V plugs (could they all of a sudden be introducing ignition noise since they are not QUL77V ? )
- The VRO oil pump seems to be pumping fine and oiling at a 50:1 to 70:1 mixture rate to the best of my monitoring. I understand the VRO oiling rate is said to vary from 50:1 at WOT to 150:1 at idle.
Should I replace the pump with a new VRO pump?
