Just got back around to tinkering with my motor tonight and found a no spark condition. Turned starter over several times and no spark. Checked wire connectors and wiggled them. Tried it a second time and still no spark. Got mad and punched the powerhead in the side where the exhaust plate is and smacked the powerpack one time. Tried it again and got a nice big ball of fire out the bolt I put in the plug wire and the motor tried to start on the other 2 cylinders. Put the plug back on and she started right up. Wiggled all the wires while running and no problem. What the heck happened? Motor has been sitting in the back yard covered for a few weeks since it was run last. Motor is a '92 60HP

Re: No Ignition Problem

It must think it's a Merc. Beating on those is a tried and true method of fixing the multitude of problems they alway seem to have. ;)

I'd probably go through and clean all of the ground connections you can find. Pull all of the connectors apart and see if there's any corrosion on any of those as well.

Re: No Ignition Problem

I am having a spark/ no spark on my '92 150 hp. In the process of checking all the grounds and hope that is the problem, but the experts here tell me that the problem is most likely a bad power pack. Local shop confirms that 99% of the time when engine is in a spark / no spark condition it's the Power Pack; especially if you bang on the side of the engine and it runs...

(I'm still hoping it's a ground issue don’t want to spend the bucks :D )
