Hi, looking for some assistance on a no start/no fuel situation: motor sat for 3 years. Prior to that is was hesitating on the hole shot and WOT.

1995 Mercury 115 2 Stroke.

I have done the following:
Drained old gas first. Added new gas.
1. Verified spark to each cylinder
2. Confirmed compression builds past 130 psi in each cylinder
3. Replaced fuel pump.
4. Replaced primer bulb and line
5. Confirmed fuel flows through the filter when priming the bulb., and pumps freely through the filter when disconnected.
6. Can start readily with sea foam spray into the carbs. Runs until it burns off. Have kept it running by going up and down the carbs trying to clean them out.
7. Took out top spark plug, dried it, and put it back. Went through start up procedures/attempts, and then immediately pulled the plug- confirmed it’s bone dry. No fuel coming across it. Repeated with #2 and same dry plugs.
8. Found the bottom lines to the accelerator pump and leaking fuel when I hit the primer bulb. Did I mention the bulb never really gets hard.

Could the leaking accelerator pump be the cause of the no fuel /no start? Is pressure escaping too rapidly? I’ve order the rebuild kit.
Also, I plan on removing the 4 carbs and rebuilding if necessary. Any good write ups on this that you can reference here?

Any help is appreciated

If the bulb is new and "functioning as designed"....ha ha with the new EPA mandated bulbs........ and doesn't get hard on prime, either the tank isn't supplying fuel to it or there is/are leaks within the engine proper. First place to suspect are the floats in carb(s) not closing off properly....second a leaking fuel line where you can see gas squirting out, or fuel pump diaphragm.

You mentioned a leaking accelerator pump.....if you are referring to the pump that feeds fuel to 3 and 4, it can leak all it wants...once the carbs on 3 and 4 fill up the float should shut off the fuel via the needle valve in each carb and the bulb should get hard.

On new line/squeeze bulb, don't hold your breath on their functioning. I got tired of fooling with them. Cut the thing out and replaced it with a 0-6 PSI fuel pump.....no more hard starting on my 2002 115. The pump was on ebay, very inexpensive, locate where the bulb was, power with 12v off the Red/Purple (switched 12V) wire, where ever you can access it. Turn the key to On, wait till you hear the fuel pump shut off, push in the key and turn it to Start and be on your way.
