No Forward/Stuck In Reverse

Have a 1974 85HP Johnson mounted on a 1990 Lund Renegade 2. The motor currently runs in reverse only even when we shift it to forward. Any guesses on the problem with this? Thanks

That is a Hydro-Electric shift engine. I would first try changing the lower unit oil.
