No fire

1979 Merc 115 i6. I have fire going to 2 post on the input side of my switch box(red and white wire) the top wire on this side goes to my coil. there is no fire going to it with the key in the on position. the other side has 3 wires going to the distbutor...there is no fire going to them either. I used a test light with the key in the on position. So is the switch box bad? shouldn't there be fire going to the coil with the key on? if the box is bad where can I get one at a discounted price?

ok I made some headway. I have no volts at the terminal that leads to the coil from the swithc box while cranking...however when I disconnet the coil..the volt are 108 and shows to be fine. a test between white and black reveal no volts which i think indicates a bad trigger..all other test met specs...so do you think the trigger is bad...and how do you replace?

Use the diagram at the top of thr page and it will tell if the trigger is OK

I did the jumper wire test and it did not fire...I checked volts between black and white wires and there was none....so I assume it is the trigger, but what role does the stator play and do I have to replace them both at the same time? if you have a digram or instructions for replacing this part...I would be very thankful. one other thing...is there anyway to bench test the coil before i start replacing the other parts?

Coil test for 332-2983 coil
Between primary leads --------------- Rx1----0 ohms
Between primary lead&secondary ----- Rx100 - 3.0-3.6 ohms
Between primary lead the bracket ----- Rx1000 - No continuity
Between the secondary & the bracket - Rx1000 - No continuity
