Can somebody help me figure out what engine this boat has so I know where to start on getting it started. the engine casting number is 10114182. That number is where the bellhousing bolts to the engine just below the cylinder head. The registration says its a 1972 Luhrs. The casting number shows it to be a GM 454. Its a inboard with a AC delco EST ignition system and eletric fuel pump.

Casting number list
10114182...454.......91-up...4-bolt, Gen.V

The motor has been replaced and looks like a double oil filter system isn't bad. Looks like it was done pretty well. If you remove a valve cover we could figure out what heads

Would use manual 16 for block and carb, and Delco EST manual for the distributor/ignition

What is the motor connected to? You have this in the OMC category, OMC did not use big blocks in front of their drives until after 1986

Look for the block casting number below the distributor on the deck port side

That looks like it was repowered with a partial engine package. The U bracket that holds the coil, circuit breaker Etc looks very similar to what places like michigan motorz, marine power, etc sell with their partial engine packages. This is a link to one https://www.michiganmotorz.com/5-7l-vortec-marine-gold-package-315-hp-1967-current-replacement. You can see the same set up in the photos, they all seem to use the same carter electric fuel pump and delco est ignition.

so you probably wont find an oem engine serial number on it.FWIW nothing wrong with these engines packages , i installed one six years ago works great

140 is the minimum?
I think 125 ish is generally where you consider it worn, gets about 100-110 and you have non functioning cylinders. i had a 3.0 with about 800 hours and still had 145 compression across the board
