Dear Experts, please help me, brought my boat at the lake yesterday for 2 hours run, while on my way to dock at low speed, motor stopped running, let it cool down while taking my trailer to get off water, before taking off, tried to start 3 times but wont turn over, i can hear the click on solenoid every time i turn the key on. Battery is good 12.6v, connections are good, engine usually start right up even at cold start. Thank you in advance.

First check the voltage drop at the start motor. If it's 0 v. then check for continuity at across the solenoid. I've had it happen a few times that the contacts in the solenoid will go bad from over use and you'll hear the click but its not completing the circuit inside. If that's good then its hard for me to say with out being able to physically trouble shoot it. And this is all assuming it's not turning over in which case if it is then it may be the spark plugs or a fuel injection issue. Hoped this helped:)

Tohatsu calls for a min 70 Amp or over battery, at just 12.6 it's only charged at 3/4. At 13.2 V will be fully charged. If all the electricals related are in opt state seems the current battery it's loosing its top juice...

Happy Boating

Don't know why the motor died on you. Are you saying when you tried to start the motor all you hear is the click and the motor is not cranking at all? How did you measure the 12.6 volts? Did you measure that while you were cranking the motor or at rest? Did you go by a dash voltmeter or a digital voltmeter connected to the starter?

no problem let me know what you figure out the issue is. I'm curious to know and learn.
Finally fixed, issue is motor wont turn over, did some reasearch on how to release it,,,put small dose of penetrating oil, leave for 2 hours, try to turn it, can feel its releasing gradually,,, did for two weeks until engine turn in full,, yesterday tried to start it and it runs,,,did saw some smoke which i think due to the oil i injected,, run several times in short interval and smoke almost going away,, dont know much of outboard,, did not change any part even the battery, impeller looks good as i opened and inspect it,, i suspect the oil sensor and i dont know how to check it if its working or not, kindly advise how to check as this is a 2 stroke oil injection model - Nissan NS50D2, Thank you in advance

Where did you put the penetrating oil? Maybe it's me but if I went thru the work to look at my impeller I'd swap that sucker out especially if I didn't know how old it is. Are you guessing the oil isn't being pumped from the tank and there was no oil mixed in the gas and the motor seized? Can you pull the sensor out of the oil tank and see if an alarm or light comes on somewhere on the helm. Is there an oil filter mounted on or near the oil tank? If so make sure it's clean. You can run a portable tank with pre-mix and see if the engine runs. When your motor died was there any alarm or light on?
