Any one ever use nidacore? I sent for and recieved there sample box of all there products. Well not all, I actually wanted a sample of there pour in transom material and that is the only thing not in the box. I know nida products are used for decks I was looking for first hand info particularly of the unfinished H8pp. The cost of the unfinished is about the same as marine ply. If i have to glass ply any way might as well use this and save a ton of weight. I am not building a race boat but .....

Have you worked with honeycomb core composites before? Do you have a vacuum bag setup large enough to handle a part this size?

Standard hand layup with a honeycomb will be frustrating at best. Balsa or structural foam core such as divinycell would be a better choice a DIY composite panel.

Also, your materials cost will skyrocket if you choose to do a composite floor. I would not waste my time with poly resin if going the composite route. With plywood you're just adding a thin layer of FRP to one side to give impact resistance and waterproofing. With a composite you are laminating load bearing skins separated by a lightweight core. Depending on the thickness of your floor the cost/weight ratio may not be favorable. This of course depends on how fat your wallet is.

This link has a good breakdown of cost and weight of plywood vs. composite panels:

Here are some rebuild threads from a local fishing website here in Houston that has done some amazing work with the NidaCore. I would like to use it to rebuild my Sea Ray, but it is way out of my price range. The Shallow Sport Scooter thread is the best. Thanks, Steven

I see they used the finished nida core panels which would be easy, but expensive for a DIY application. The OP was thinking of laminating the unfinished honeycomb core himself.
