Ok, what is the difference between a fast cure and a slow/cold cure? I will be mixing up some poly resin tonight and will be laying some cloth on the bow of my project boat. It calls for 8 drops of hardner per ounce of resin. The hardner comes in a small vial and has no way to do a drop. How do I make sure I get enough in the mixture? And if I put too little will the resin still harden???

Re: NFG question (resin mixing)

Stick with what they recommend, too little and even though it may appear to get hard, it won't cure well. Also mix it very well, if you don't there may be areas that don't cure at all. Use an eye dropper ( dispose of it after you use it), you can get a small cheap one from a pharmacy.

oops!

Re: NFG question (resin mixing)

Stick with what they recommend,

a slow cure, is at the bottom of manufacturers spec range.....it takes longer to gell or harden...

a hot mix is at the top of the suggested spec....it flashes a lot faster....

BEWARE....if you go out side of the specs....the resin will look and feel hard....you will think....HA...its done......but the resin will be very brittle....and prone to failure.

again.....as ondarvr said....stick to what they reccomend
