I applied for a NEXUS card on May 23rd. Does anyone here know how long the process usually takes? Just curious as my passport expires on August 16th and I am not planning to renew it.

From my understanding the Nexus card doesn't replace a passport, it just speeds up the border crossing because you've had a background check showing you're not a threat.

I have had Nexus for 10 years now, the whole process took about 3 weeks. You will get an email giving you some dates to attend for an interview with both the CBSA and CBP. At that time they will fingerprint you, photo and if you wish or plan to travel by air they will also do an Iris scan for your future convenience.

If you do not plan to travel outside the U.S.A. or Canada then you only need a Nexus, which is also great for boating on the Great Lakes.

I should get one, but I have several boarder crossing options and some rarely have a line, and they don't open the Nexus lane for that reason. I'll be headed to Canada on Monday for week, I'll be in Kelowna, might try to meet up with oops! if I get enough time.

I have a Nexus card and got mine when first introduced. I am still asked for my passport. Nexus does NOT replace a passport.
