Ok...so I have no fire on cyl 2. Spark plugs are good. Compression is good. Coils are good. So where do I go from here? I think I am suppose to test the switch box next. Can I do this with a regular meter? I do not have a DVA nor do I have the mental ability to build one...LOL I know these electrical parts are expensive so if I replace one I want to make sure that I need it. Or should I just break down and take it to be repaired? Advise please...I want to be on the water soooo bad....nothing worse thatn having this great boat in your garage and cant get on the lake..and winter is soooo close

Thanks,
Letreze

When you lose fire on 1 cyl. it's either the box, coil or a bad wire between the 2. TO test without a meter swap the green input wire on the coil that don't fire with the coil next to it and check for spark. if the spark changes cyls its the box if it don't move it's the coil.

Re: Next Testing the Switch Box?

Sorry..I have a Mariner 150HP (1984). So it would definetly be the switch box if it's not the coil right? When I called the Marina to see if they had a switch box in stock they suggested that I bring it in because it could be the trigger or strator and that I could end up throwing alot of money into these parts and not fix the problem. I don't know how to test all those different aprts..nor do I have the meter to test those parts . Please advise....Treze

A bad stator effects 3 or all 6 cyls. A trigger effects cyls in groups of 2. The marina told the truth about throwing parts at it but if they don't know how the system functions how will they be able to repair it, sounds like thet want to sell some extra parts to you.
