I just want to reccomend the latest issue of Newsweek magazine. It is dedicated to correspondence home from American soldiers who were later killed in combat.

It attempts to refrain from a political statement, and whatever your point of view on this war, there is something in it for you.

But it appears to be real, and it certainly is powerful.

While I think this is impossible, as simply the letter selection process cannot be neutral, I am very interested. If somehow it is neutral, and I sincerely hope so, I am sure it will be meaningful. I will seek it out.

Re: Newsweek

The editor, Jon Meachum, specifically noted in his "Editor's Notes" column that they specifically tried to avoid a political statement. I take him at his word.

However, you all know I have a political point of view, and it did not change my mind.

Whatever your politics, I can't imagine reading these and being unmoved.
