Another recommendation would be the Texas Hunting Regulations, the official guide to hunting rules and regulations in Texas. This is important in order to hunt legally and stay up to date with current regulations and requirements. I read it while studying at the university, then I found an essay about myself that would be faster, I used https://papersowl.com/blog/how-to-write-autobiography-essay for this. Finally, I would encourage you to look into books that describe the local fauna and flora in your area, as this will help you better understand local hunting conditions. I wish you good luck, read the books, they contain a lot of knowledge.
Based on your experience and interest, I would recommend that you take a look at a few books that may help you become a more proficient hunter in central Texas.

First, "The Complete Guide to Hunting, Butchering, and Cooking Wild Game" by Steven Rinella is an excellent resource for new hunters that covers a wide range of topics, including weapon selection, hunting techniques, and game preparation.

Site in, practice, practice, practice. Spend a lot of time out hunting. The more time in the field the more opportunities.

so far it is :) by the way are 10 gauge shotguns still legal???
Legal shotgun; Shotguns not larger than 10-gauge, fired from the shoulder, and incapable of holding more than three shells. Shotguns capable of holding more than three shells must be plugged with a one-piece filler (plug) which cannot be removed without disassembling the gun, so the gun's total capacity does not exceed three shells. (From current TPWD regulations)

A couple friends and I tried to decimate the squirrels in Mower County MN back in the 60s, but it seemed like for each one we shot 2 more would replace it.

I live on a peninsula I like to think I have them at bay. My neighbors are gone till March so when they left I started trapping and shooting. Have not seen a squirrel in 6 days.
