I recntly purchased a used Nissan 9.9 that came with the control box and cables from a pontoon. The cables look to be a bit long going from the console of my Basstracker. Is it better to take the box with cables somewhere to have them shortened, or can I just put a loop in each one to shorten it to the length needed? Also I would appreciate any advice/tips on best mounting the box and cables. :D

Just put a big loop in em. Make sure it's a big loop like 14-24" It think many cables require at least a 14" radius when bending around corners.

O.K. - that was pretty much what I was looking for. I assume that getting eveything set to engage at the right places in the shifter is just a trial-and-error procedure?

Shouldn't be, just hook them up and go.
