Hi. New guy here. I just bought a 1984 20' JC with an 88 tracker trailer and a big Evinrude. I have therented a storage unit to work on it over the winter.
This will be a little different as I am a wheelchair user in a big electric chair. This means I can't get to a console to drive the boat so I will have to something different there, maybe stick steer. I am also going to put an electric motor on it for a bunch of reasons.
Anyway, just wanted to introduce myself. I am sure the questions will be coming hot and heavy soon.

Welcome aboard, electric_beagle.

It sounds like you have a plan. Once you get a feel for the boat post some pictures and we will start to make suggestions. The helm area can probably be modified to accommodate you and the chair.

This sounds like a fascinating project. Please post your progress. There are some experienced and clever people here who may be able to offer some useful ideas.

welcome aboard. a while back I ran across a guy that has his pontoon modified for his wheel chair. the fence was opened up with an electric folding ramp to his dock. two linak LA36 actuators to lift/lower the ramp.. the helm was moved forward about 2 feet to allow him to wheel up behind it. he moves the controls/help up/down to allow him to get in position then move the controls to reach.

post pics, we love pics
